Here’s a quick recap of app update this week that everyone should know about.This week iOS users can dig into some cool updates from Viber,Opera and True Caller. Hangouts Google has rolled out new version of Hangouts for Android, which eliminates one of the biggest bugbears for Hangouts users. The new version finally brings SMS and Hangouts messages from the same contact in one inbox. This means you can seamlessly continue chatting via SMS when you are not on Hangouts too. Hangouts 2.1 also offers simplified contact list which will split user contacts in two sections; phone contacts and frequent Hangouts contacts. A home screen widget too has been added to give users to get quick access to their recent conversations.

Google Street View

Time travel still eludes us, but Google doesn’t want you to forget what things were in the past. So the search giant has added past photos of several locations to Google Maps’ Street View feature. The new travel feature serves as a digital timeline of recent history, like the reconstruction after the devastating 2011 earthquake and Tsunami in Onagawa, Japan. You can even experience different seasons and see what it would be like to cruise Italian roadways in both summer and winter.

Pinterest

Getting to the right Pin or board requires a bit of trial and error when using Pinterest, which becomes more problematic as the number of boards increased.  The company hopes to change that with the latest update to the iOS and Android app, which brings Guided Search. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play store and Apple App store.

Opera Coast for iPhone

After seeing success with the Coast browser designed for the iPad, Opera has now released it for the iPhone. Coast for iPhone brings the same casual browsing experience that we saw on the iPad, for a smaller screen. WeChat
We Chat has introduced a new feature – real time location sharing – which enables users to stay connected with their friends and family at all times. The feature – introduced as a part of the 5.2.1 upgrade, could be especially useful for women as it gives a view of real time location, thereby ensuring their safety while on the move. WeChat app can be downloaded from the Google Play store as well as Apple App store.

Viber for iOS

The free calling and messaging app Viber finally gets the new iOS 7-like flat design. The company describes it as ‘clean and flat’ that puts more emphasis on multimedia. Users can share multiple images at the same time and also record and share longer video messaging. The app also allows block ing specific phone numbers. Viber for iOS can be downloaded from Apple App store.

Truecaller for iOS

Truecaller, the crowdsourced phone directory app, brings its Live Caller ID feature to iOS. iPhone users can now identify spammy numbers and also callers engaged in one-ring scams. iOS users can download the TrueCaller app from Apple App store.

IFTTT for Android

IFTTT (If This Then That), the popular online automation service is now available for Android devices. The app lets a user automate variety of tasks ranging from sending an email to getting a weather notification to even backing up files on Dropbox and more. The main goal of the app is to increase productivity and save time on daily mundane tasks. The IFTTT Android App is now available in Google Play Store for download.
